Life cannot be just a fairy tale - sometimes everyone experiences negative emotions. The waiter in the cafe was rude, the boss gave additional projects for which there is absolutely no time, and the children at home do not listen to you at all. It's important not to let the negativity take over you. But even from your not the most pleasant feelings, you can benefit.
Perhaps the most important negative emotions are resentment and envy. From childhood, our parents told us that it is not good to be offended and envious. Mom reproached us for the fact that we envy a classmate who is more intelligent in physics, who only “clicks” tasks on tests, or a friend who has legs “from the ears” and her chest is perfectly shaped. Envy and resentment are completely normal human emotions, the main thing is to learn how to use them correctly.
Why are we offended?
We feel that others are not behaving the way we expected. All this comes from childhood, and in adulthood we transfer a certain model of behavior to the relationship with a partner. A person feels discomfort when faced with something unfamiliar, unusual, not consistent with his ideas and life values - and here it is not far to resentment. The main thing is to understand the reasons for your own discomfort, to realize them and work out, and also to restore the boundaries of your comfort. The key function of resentment is to regulate your comfort zone.
Nothing to envy
Envy is another feeling that people are usually ashamed of and hide. But everything is not so simple here. If we understand and look deeper into the essence of this emotion, then we do not envy the material things of other people, but the personal qualities that they possess. Jealousy is definitely a destructive feeling and, if left unchecked, even leads to health problems. However, your own envy can be used to your advantage if we do not dwell on the negative, but think about how to develop the qualities that you envy. Such a purely negative emotion at first glance can serve as a powerful catalyst for personal growth and self-development.
