What plants to choose for a flower garden in an apartment and on a balcony

If desired, it is possible to turn your city house into a branch of the botanical garden - thousands of plants have brought breeders to forms for growing, pleasing the eye of amateur gardeners. But in principle, it doesn’t matter - do you want to have dozens of flora representatives or even unit. The main thing is not to make a mistake with the choice. And this is not about the intricacies of care from a biological point of view (although this is also important).

But no less important is the knowledge of how these or other plants can charm and surprise from an aesthetic point of view. And then the selection presented contains information about the species brief, but quite complete, for the initial orientation.

Geranium It has been popular since the end of the 19th century, but in our century of species and varietal diversity it is hardly reasonable to limit ourselves to only “classical” variants. So you can pay attention to the kindred pelargonium. Its lush inflorescences in a rich palette of scarlet, orange and pink, will delight year-round, subject to abundant light and heat. Pelargonium petals can even be in ombre colors and resemble velvet.

Grace hyacinth delights the eye year-round. It is of any color - blue, blue, burgundy, lemon souffle, pink, lilac. According to interior designers, it combines translucent minimalism and Baroque luxury. Hyacinths can be stunningly spectacular by the piece in the original pots, decorating, for example, a dining table, shelving.

Must never go out of style Rose. Polyanthus (multi-flowered) varieties of them fill the room with a delicious aroma. Petals like silk or velvet, of any color (and if something is missing in nature - there are artificial additives).

And recently, many varieties have been developed and improved that are fundamentally contrary to the theory that a rose is a terribly capricious flower.

An interesting choice could be verbena - one of the most mystical flowers on the planet. By the way, its aroma is often included in the composition of elite women's perfumes. It contains sweetness, freshness and a drop of something citrus. We can also say that verbena is half good in flowers and half in saturated carved greens.

Also noteworthy tormenting - a tropical miracle, reminiscent of both snapdragon (shape) and pansies (coloring style). Of all the floral exotic this is one of the most unpretentious. And also, interestingly, an allergic reaction to this flower is extremely rare.

About begonia we can say that this is one of the most numerous species in terms of bred varieties, impressive not only with lush inflorescences, but also often with extremely decorative leaves (for example, there are green peas). Recently, begonias with petals similar to a crumpled chiffon and with petals, the edges of which are “outlined” in a brighter color, have been in great demand. And it is noteworthy that begonia can be grown both in a small pot and in a hanging planter, from where it will descend in a delightful cascade of stems.

For a south-facing balcony and hot summer purslane. This is succulent - a plant that knows how to accumulate moisture. Its flowers are distinguished by both pastel tenderness and the brightness of felt-tip pens, so in low drawers it is possible to create real luxury with it. True, its flowering sometimes has to wait until the beginning of summer - the end of May and beginning of June.

For hanging pots often choose fuchsia, but continuing with geranium, you can pay attention to an alternative - lobelia. This is a sea wave pierced by the sun sapphire. If you choose wicker baskets for her, you will get the illusion that you managed to lure and tame pieces of the July sky on the balcony.

It is impossible to forget about the climbing flora. One of her pearls is bougainvillea. So decorate balconies in the Caribbean and in Brazil. The plant loves light, blooms mainly in violet tones (but there are also orange, white bougainvillea). The peak of the splendor of flowering occurs on the 4 year of life. Bougainvillea itself is tiny, but the vine can reach 10 meters, so it’s especially effective to “let it go” further from the balcony along the wall - this is why landscape designers recommend it for country houses.

Magnificent and unpretentious grows clematis, whose flowers, resembling stars, are especially popular in shades of blue and pale purple. A prerequisite for him is the presence of some kind of support. And the second rule - clematis should not lack in light - otherwise the flowers change color unsympathetically and subsequent ones bloom more and more. He is also quite picky about wintering, but by the eighth of March you can enjoy his first flowering in the new season.

If we talk about limited space - literally on the windowsill, you can choose the original combination - a lot of wonderfully fragrant herbs and the most modest of the classics of gardening for beginners.

So you can get a mix of basil, marjoram, thyme, peppermint, oregano, rosemary, as well as daisies, violets, pansies and phlox.

And it is certainly worth mentioning the orange-sunny charm of calendula and marigold. On a glazed balcony, their flowering can be extended until the beginning of October and they can become an ideal element of its autumn decoration. It’s so easy to add a woolen blanket to the armchair, put a dry-colored bouquet or a decorative pumpkin on the balcony.

And finally, regarding the landscaping of the space in an ordinary apartment, you can give the following tips:

  • If you plan something more than a couple of pots, it is advisable first to not miss a thing, sketch home garden and think about additional landscaping. World-famous designers agree that home flower beds harmoniously shade in the style of the interior with the help of lamps in the form of lanterns, decorative stucco under stone and wooden furniture.
  • Annuals have advantages over perennials in the sense that they allow each season to juicyly update the design of the same balcony and eliminate the hassle of organizing wintering flora for the flora.
